Description
Residency workshop: ‘The Vocal Gesture’ or ‘The Mind Travels When the Body Sings’.
A journey of exploration through movement, delving into the subtle and fascinating undulations of the voice, to discover each person’s unique soundscape and silences.
The Vocal Gesture is both sound and movement. Practising the Feldenkrais™ Method helps to develop self-awareness, through
movement and whilst singing.
During this workshop, we will explore a subtle and respectful approach to understanding how your body functions when you speak and when you sing (joint alignment, breathing, vibrational spaces, inner calm, listening).
Singing in tune? Singing out of tune? SINGING TOGETHER
The songs chosen will be drawn from the world’s folk repertoire, for one or more voices, featuring varied rhythms and melodies, and enchanting harmonies. Whether or not you can read music, all that matters is a desire to discover and the joy of sharing. It would be helpful to have some prior vocal experience; for example, having sung in a choir (even if it was a long time ago), singing occasionally to accompany everyday activities or at parties and events with friends or family, or having taken singing lessons…
