  • Is the Grand Colombier always accessible?

    No, the climb is closed in winter from November to the second part of April.

  • When is the Grand Colombier for cyclists only?

    Every year, the roads between Culoz and the Grand Colombier is closed for cars and only accessible by bike on Summer’s second Saturday.

    In 2023, these events will be taking place on Saturdays 10 June, 8 July, 12 August and 9 september.

    The cycling days are free with no registration needed. Coffee is offered at the bottom of the climb and food offered at the top.
    The Brotherhood “Les Fêlés” will welcome you at the top and challenge you to climb these terrible ascent by more than one side on a single day!

  • How to get to the foot of the Grand Colombier?

    Culoz is located on the railway line between Geneva and Lyon and therefor easily accessible by train.

    If you come by car, many car parks are accessible on site near Maison du Vélo. For riders wishing to warm up before the climb, we invite them to park at the port of Massignieu-de-Rives a few kilometers away and reach Culoz following the cyling route ViaRhôna.

  • Can I rent a bike to climb the Grand Colombier?

    Yes! Although there are no renting possibilities in Culoz, Servi’Nature in Haut Valromey and Atelier Cycles Grand Colombier in Seyssel have several road bikes for you.
