Along the way, informative panels introduce the local flora and fauna. This walk is accessible to all and offers a better understanding of the site's rich ecology.
Lake Virieu boasts a large beach, a children's playground, and numerous picnic areas shaded by trees. Swimming is supervised in July and August.
Designated as Sensitive Natural Areas, the lakes and wetlands of Virieu-le-Grand and Chazey-Bons are the remnants of a single, ancient glacial lake. The site presents numerous ecological challenges and is managed by the Bugey-Sud inter-municipal authority.
From the beach, follow the yellow markers around the lake in a clockwise direction.
The entire path is not accessible to strollers or wheelchairs.
