Description
The Espace Aguascalientes is hosting an exhibition of paintings titled “Aquatic Collection” by Evelyne Scarbotte.
After training in textile design and gaining professional experience in the
Terreaux district of Lyon, followed by training in weaving and the opening of a
studio-shop in Hauteville-Lompnès in the Ain department, Evelyne picked up her brushes again in
1989 and held her first solo exhibition in 1992.
Since then, she has never ceased to evolve in her artistic exploration,
first with fifteen years of painting with knives, then returning to brushes
with a highly realistic approach to the subject.
Gradually, her work shifted toward the beginnings of abstraction: (
abstraction in the literal sense of the term = removing an element from its
context ).
Over the years, her practice has refined itself to the point where she now creates only
abstractions on varied subjects based on her own emotions.
She wishes to explore this practice to its fullest extent, sometimes to the
very edge of abstraction, where the eye and the brain must cooperate to interpret and perceive the
actual subject.
She seeks to make visible, through a zooming effect, all those details of light and
reflections that escape us in everyday life.
Due to her very distinctive and personal oil painting technique,
many people mention textiles (silk, velvet, drapery) when they see
the final rendering of her canvases.
The recognition of her technical and artistic style by the public and her
peers confirms that she has achieved her abstract artistic identity.
