To mark the National Architecture Days and the ‘Vignobles en Scène’ festival, the Bugey-Sud Community of Communes and the Tourist Office invite you to discover the village of Marignieu, its architecture and its vineyard landscapes in a new light.
This morning’s session offers a two-part experience, designed to help you learn to observe and understand… and then savour the landscape.
The walk begins in the heart of the village, with a guided landscape tour led by Lorène Jocteur, a landscape consultant at the Ain Council for Architecture, Urban Planning and the Environment (CAUE 01). Because looking at a landscape isn’t always straightforward: sometimes you have to learn to observe, take a step back and understand what you’re seeing.
Stone houses, stepped gables, farm buildings, roofs, the layout of the built environment… all these details tell the story of the region and its links with farming and wine-growing.
As you follow the trail, you’ll discover some key insights into how to train your eye and understand the relationships between the elements that make up the Marignieu landscape.
Then, it’s time to savour the landscape! The experience continues with an introductory workshop on tasting Bugey wines. You’ll be welcomed by Maison Angelot, a family-run estate in the Bugey AOC, which cultivates its vines with a deep attachment to the land, combining respect for tradition with modernity. Colours, aromas, sensations… Having learnt to observe the landscape, you’ll be invited to sharpen your senses to discover how a terroir can also tell its story in a glass.
An experience blending architecture, landscape and viticulture, which echoes Bugey-Sud’s bid for the ‘Pays d’art et d’histoire’ label and is fully in keeping with the spirit of ‘Vignobles en Scène’, the national wine tourism event.
