The Observatoire de la Lèbe offers to take you on a journey through the galaxies, the stars and the planets thanks to planetarium sessions and fun and exciting observation evenings throughout the year!

The Observatoire de la Lèbe is entirely dedicated to the discovery of astronomy for all.

What if we took the time to observe the stars? Unique place in the Ain, the Observatoire de la Lèbe in Valromey sur Séran in the South Bugey offers you to familiarize yourself with the galaxies, stars and planets thanks to fun and exciting astronomical animations.
All year with reservation, the Observatoire de la Lèbe offers:

Planetarium sessions.
Observations of the sun.
Observation evenings for all.
Adult and children’s courses on reservation for groups (school, leisure, association, works council, families …). Specific programs on request.
The path of the stars in free access and its fun booklet on sale at the Observatory and in the offices of the Tourist Office.

The planetarium

Board the planetarium for a strikingly realistic virtual ride through the Milky Way.

Guided by a scientific mediator, discover constellations, planets, nebulae, galaxies and other unsuspected wonders of the deep sky.
The session consists of a film, followed by a presentation of the sky by the animator. A dive into the heart of the starry sky comfortably installed in your recliner.

Observation evenings

Night observation:
During 2 hours you will learn to spot the main constellations and observe the most spectacular objects of the night sky: the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, nebulae, galaxies and star clusters… These initiation evenings are based on a total interactivity with the public and are accessible to all without any prior knowledge.

Evscope evening:
The Observatoire de la Lèbe proposes an evening around a latest generation telescope: the EVscope. The strength of the eVscope is to render extremely distant and very faint objects.
Star clusters, nebulae, galaxies…
Bref objects usually difficult to observe and now within our reach!

Family night:
Specifically designed for families, this evening will begin under the planetarium dome of the Observatoire de la Lèbe with the screening of the film L’aveugle aux yeux d’étoiles followed by mythological stories related to constellations told by our host.
The evening will continue with a telescope observation (a substitute animation will be set up in case of bad weather).

In the planetarium learn to recognize the constellations, their shape and let yourself be lulled by the mythological tales associated with them. At the exit meet on the observation terrace to spot the constellations with the naked eye and observe Jupiter and Saturn through a telescope.
These initiation evenings are based on a total interactivity with the public and are accessible to all without prior knowledge.

The path of the stars

A nice fun, educational and cultural walk to do all year round with your family for an afternoon.

Cosmos and Professor Big-Bang offer you to dive into a huge intergalactic investigation.

With the help of a notebook,find the clues left on the totems of the path of the stars and try to solve their riddles in order to discover where these friendly travelers come from.
