  • What are the dates of the Grand Colombier 2026 cycling days?

    The road between Culoz and Grand Colombier is closed for cars once a month on a Saturday of June, July, August and September:
    In 2026 the road will be car-free on June 20, July 11, August 8 and September 12!

    What are the cycling days?
    The cycling days are free events, 4 Saturdays of the summer, the road between Grand Colombier from Culoz is closed to cars and reserved for cyclists.

  • What are the opening and closing dates of the Grand Colombier roads?

    The 4 roads leading to Grand Colombier are closed throughout the winter period from November to the second part of April.

    In 2026 the Grand Colombier and Col de la Biche will be opened on April 10th (subject to weather conditions).

  • How to get to the foot of the Grand Colombier ?

    – By train: the Culoz train station at the foot of the Grand Colombier is located on the Lyon – Geneva railway line.
    For cyclists: the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and SNCF Voyageurs offer a mandatory bicycle reservation service for €1 on all TER lines on weekends and public holidays from May 1st to September 27th, 2026, and every day in July and August at: aura.ter.veloabord.fr
    – By car: several parking lots are accessible near the Culoz Bicycle House.
    To do a few kilometers of warm-up before the climb, it is possible to park at the Lac du Lit au roi and follow the ViaRhôna bicycle path on 12 km.

  • Is the ViaRhôna "complete"?
