In collaboration with the Yenne Tourist Office - Maison de la Dent du Chat, the Bugey Sud Grand Colombier Tourist Office is organising a trip focusing on the discovery of local treasures, be they landscapes, heritage or gourmet delights.
Day 1: Yenne - Belley - 20 km
You start your stay with an excursion in Savoyard countryside. Here are our suggestions for activities in Savoie:
- Stroll around the ancient medieval town of Yenne.
- Wine tasting at Domaine Saint-Romain / Cave à Perret in Yenne
- Gourmet breaks: at the ‘glacier de l'Avalanche’ - ‘Au véritable gâteau de Savoie’ - ‘So'Brunch’ in Yenne
- Restaurants: ‘La Fabrique’ or ‘Le Fer à Cheval’.
Then pedal along the ViaRhôna to enter Bugey-Sud via the pretty port of Massignieu-de-Rives and continue towards Belley.
Our suggested activities in Belley :
- Visit and tasting at the Kario distillery.
- Free or guided tour (on request from the Tourist Office) of the episcopal city of Belley, former capital of the Bugey region.
Dinner and overnight stay in Belley or nearby. Here are our suggestions for partner restaurants and accommodation:

Continuing along the pleasant ViaRhôna cycle path, head for Glandieu.
Along the way, you can make a diversion to the village of Izieu for a historical visit to the Maison d'Izieu memorial or for a wine-tasting tour of the Caveau Martin-Barbaz.
On arrival in Glandieu, discover the majestic and unmissable Glandieu waterfall. With its 60-metre waterfall, it welcomes you at the entrance to this small hamlet of traditional Bugesque architecture, where it's great fun to stroll around.
Well-earned breaks are available in the following establishments:
- L'Auberge du Grand Thur in Izieu.
- Le Bistrot de la Cascade in Glandieu.
At the end of your stay, you can return to Yenne as follows:
- Cycle along the ViaRhôna to La Balme, then call our partner Taxi Bus, which is equipped to take cycling equipment back to Yenne. You can also call him as soon as you leave Glandieu.
- Cycle along the ViaRhôna to Virignin and take the bus to Chambéry via Yenne (line A73/S02).
