Jean-Baptiste Sastre and Hiam Abbass adapted Jorge Semprún's work. Involved in the resistance, he was arrested in Auxerre by the Gestapo and deported to Buchenwald concentration camp.
After performing the play themselves, the two directors decided to bring together 15 French and 16 German actors in Buchenwald to mark the 80th anniversary of the discovery of the camp.
In Izieu, seven young people will perform the text recounting the Spanish writer's terrible experience during this troubled period. It is a way of encouraging future generations to reflect and pass on the memory.
