Guy Patrick Smith was born in Oxford in the UK and grew up there beside a river that has remained one of his major influences. After training as a bookbinder, he worked for many years restoring old and rare books. Arriving in Valromey in 2021, he began painting only 18 months ago, inspired by the beauty of the region. Entirely self-taught, he paints by instinct: his watercolours are imbued with softness and mystery.

Zandra McGillivray - English by birth, but French at heart - has lived in Valromey for 25 years. As a teenager, she learned the basics and developed a passion for working with stoneware clay, before refining her technical skills as she travelled and met new people. Inspired by wildlife from here and elsewhere, as well as cave art, she creates her animal sculptures with humour and tenderness, a touch of fantasy and a good dose of exaggeration. She has already exhibited her work in England, Switzerland and France, in Paris and Dinard.
