The Espace Aguascalientes is hosting an exhibition of oil paintings by artists Marie-Christiane Dumont and Chloé Bois Dumont.
Marie-Christiane Dumont
Born in 1946, Marie-Christiane grew up in Varlomey, where she spent every summer at the
home of her great-grandfather, a farmer in Vieu. After a busy career as a
dentist, she ventured into the Galerie de l’Olympe in Lyon, where she began learning
oil painting from landscape artists at a later stage in life. Just as active as an amateur painter as she was in
her professional life, she produces a large number of paintings with a predilection for the
soothing landscapes of Valromey, in which she finds an inexhaustible source of emotion and inspiration.

Chloé Bois Dumont
Born in 1985 in Lyon, Marie Christiane’s daughter also has a head full of memories of picnics
along the banks of the Séran and bike rides in the Valromey… She has been drawing since childhood, on every spare
corner of a notebook, but it was as an adult—and a psychiatrist—that she discovered oil painting,
also at the Galerie de l’Olympe, then during an internship with landscape painters such as the English artist Hester Berry.
She uses this medium to try to capture the infinite variations of light on the fields and
hills of Valromey, to which she invariably returns, always with the same sense of wonder.
