Jean Percet exhibits his watercolours and pastels, a master in the art of colour and composition. The works are figurative or abstract, and the themes he tackles tell the story of his surroundings, landscapes, urban centres and his travels.

"After starting out as a graphic designer for the Council of Europe and as a show illustrator at the Théâtre National de Strasbourg, Jean Percet quickly moved on to designing sets and costumes for theatres and operas in Toulouse, Lyon, Nice and Caen, among others, and for films by Jean-Luc Godard and Jean-Louis Comolli, before being entrusted with the technical management of the Théâtre de Nice and then the large auditorium of the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris.
In 1978, at the age of 40, he decided to devote himself to painting, which he mastered just as well as drawing, illustration, watercolour and pastel. His works have been exhibited in various places under the aegis of the D.R.A.C., in numerous galleries in Ile-de-France, Aix-en-Provence, on the Côte d'Azur, for the Art Jonction International in Nice, at the Espace Simiane in Gordes...
In 2010 he presented Alice & Cie, an 82-plate artist's book inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, at the Cité du Livre in Aix-en-Provence. This was followed in 2012 by L'Iliade d'Homère, a graphic poem with 120 illustrations, the rights to which were acquired by the Académie de Versailles for the French Ministry of Education.
Jean Percet's works are both figurative and abstract, with themes that tell the story of his surroundings: landscapes, urban centres, his travels, his sense of humour, his curiosity about the arts and literature, and the men and women he meets. The watercolours and pastels on display will draw you in, for Jean Percet is a master of the art of colour and composition." Patrick Frémont
