8th campaign of archaeological excavations on the medieval site of Châteauneuf en Valromey

  • Join archaeologists Evelyne Chauvin-Desfleurs and Laurent D'agostino on a dig at Chateauneuf.

  • Professional archaeologists Evelyne Chauvin-Desfleurs and Laurent D'agostino are joined by 9 students to continue excavating the Chateauneuf site. Activities will focus on the stratigraphic excavation of the upper courtyard dwelling, and the surveying and recording of structures. The inventory of lapidary will be continued, as will the cleaning of furniture as the excavation progresses.

    good humor! The conditions for participation are :

    - be a member of the Cercle Amical de Songieu (CAS) and up to date with membership fees (to benefit from insurance)
    - must be over 18 years of age (16 years of age and over can participate with a letter of release from parents and proof of civil liability).
    - participate for at least one full day. Those wishing to participate over several days will be given preference!
    - be up to date with your tetanus vaccination
    - wear suitable footwear (safety shoes, walking shoes, etc.), work clothes and gloves

    Please register with Bertrand Guyot (06 08 87 17 40 or by e-mail at bertrand-guyot@hotmail.com / ) so that he can draw up the work schedule and distribute your presence over the duration of the project. For reasons of organization and supervisor availability, it is difficult to accommodate more than 4/5
    CAS volunteers on the same day.

    For the "curious" who simply wish to obtain information on the progress of knowledge and activities on the site, please refer to one of the two visits to the site which will take place at the end of the day and which will enable us to answer all your questions (Thursday June 27 and Tuesday July 2, at 5.30pm). No registration necessary for tours.

    Minimum participation of one day, association membership required (15€) for insurance.
